Dutch defender Virgil van Dijk said he wanted to become "one of Liverpool's legends," noting that nothing can stop the English Premier League club from achieving "amazing things."
The 28-year-old defender, who joined Liverpool in January 2018, helped the club win the Champions League, European Super Cup and Club World Cup.
Liverpool were just two wins away from winning their Premier League title in 30 years when the season was interrupted by the Corona virus outbreak.
Asked how fans wanted to remember his time in Liverpool, Van Dijk told the Spanish newspaper Sport, "As one of Liverpool's legends. I want to achieve amazing things here."
"I would like to become one of those players who return to Anfield after retirement. I watch the club's legends in the matches and feel like I am part of this extended family," added Van Dijk, who finished second behind Lionel Messi in the Golden Ball Award for Best Player in the World.
He continued, "We have a great team and we do not miss anything, and we have all the tools necessary to continue achieving victories. It is a coach with a personality and a variety, a style of play that brings wins, a stadium and an audience that plays its role."
Liverpool, who lost once in the league this season, collected 82 points from 29 games and are 25 points ahead of Manchester City, who have played fewer matches.
